April 30 (SeeNews) - Albania's largest seaport of Durres handled 1.6 million tonnes of cargo in the first quarter of 2024, an increase from 1.55 million tonnes processed in the same period of 2023, the country’s statistics office, INSTAT, said.
The number of passengers traveling to and from the port of Durres in the January-March period stood at 109,722, almost unchanged compared to the like period in 2023, INSTAT said in a quarterly report.
Albania has four operational seaports for cargo transport: Durres, Vlora, Shengjin, and Limjon (Saranda). Durres is the primary port, handling 96% of sea freight volume.
